Rosie Hood is a young folk singer from Wiltshire, known for her strong, pure voice and engaging solo performance.

She started learning folk songs at an early age from her family.

Rosie has a keen interest in the history of traditional songs, particularly those of her native Wiltshire, where here research in the local archives has helped her to develop a broad repertoire of local songs.

June 2017 saw the release of her first full-length solo album The Beautiful & The Actual, a collection of old and new folk songs.

Among the twelve songs on this album, she has arranged and included eight collected by the prolific folk song collector, Alfred Williams, who, in the years prior to World War I, visited the towns and villages close to his home of South Marston, Wiltshire, just 10 miles from Rosie’s home village of Minety.

snippets from an interview with Jon Wilks, Grizzly Folk:

'I sang the traditional song, "The Keeper" in the Middle Bar at Sidmouth when I was seven and they gave me "The Future of Folk Award", which I think they probably invented for me at that moment.'

'I used to think that folk songs were a little bit like an older version of Eastenders. They wanted to write about the drama – the stuff that they remember. But actually, now I think it’s more like Game Of Thrones! It’s all sex and death, with a few funny bits in between.'

"Her singing is sweet, precise and commanding"          The Living Tradition

"Her voice – a model of power and clarity"                   Folking.com

".... encompasses both tradition and originality, combining both invention and interpretation of music and lyrics...."       FolkWords
