Liz Simcock at Croydon Folk Club on Monday Night, 11th November, 8:15
15-Jul-2019 17:17

Liz Simcock sings and performs her own songs in folk clubs in and around the Southeast and beyond.

She accompanies herself mainly with guitar or bouzouki.

She is an astute observer of life’s quirks and this is reflected in the range of subjects she tackles in her songs: from subtle ballads to up-tempo fun.

In 1999 she featured on the Playpen Album of New Acoustic Music alongside Eliza Carthy, Billy Bragg, Eddi Reader and Kathryn Williams.

Since then, Liz has trodden an independent path, gaining a growing reputation as a captivating entertainer and an engaging singer-songwriter.

She counts Richard Thompson, Clive Grigson, Boo Hewerdine and Joni Mitchell amongst her main songwriting role models.

In November 2015 Liz toured with Clive Grigson, performing songs from the Grigson & Collister back catalogue.

Their next tour with the release of 'Underwater Dancing' (2017), an album of new Grigson songs, included a very entertaining evening at Croydon Folk Club last May.

“...we have been listening to her latest CD again and again. Hopefully she’ll be back soon” Anne Giles Croydon Folk Club
