The Spread Eagle Pub & Theatre

Events & Entertainment

Opened in October 2013, The Spread Eagle Theatre is a 50 seat capacity studio theatre situated in the heart of Croydon Town Centre, just 10mins walk from East Croydon Station.

As a response to the sad closure of the Warehouse Theatre in 2012, we set about transforming our upstairs function room into Croydon's newest studio theatre space. We are very excited about the positive responses from the community and have enjoyed  great success in supporting the Save The David Lean Campaign. It was infact the high demand for the film showings in our function room which inspired Fullers to look into opening a theatre in the first place!

We work closely with our sister venue the Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham on co-productions with professional theatre companies. This partnership has meant we have been able to showcase at least one new production each month. The Old Joint Stock Theatre champions big plays for small spaces and we here at The Spread Eagle Theatre hold true to that statement with an emphasis on supporting new writing in and around Croydon and London.

You can check out www.spreadeaglecroydon.co.uk/theatre for a list of our current shows.

Built in 1893, The Spread Eagle was originally the Croydon branch of the Union Bank of London - and operated as a financial institution for more than a centuary. The Spread Eagle enjoys a convenient location on the corner of the High Street just next to the Croydon Town Hall.
